When you need to paste text from one file into another file, use this handy tip to avoid full change bars.

1. Make the file you are pasting the text into the active file.
2. Go to Format > Document > Change Bars (alt + o + d + c)
3. Uncheck the box next to Automatic Change Bars to turn off change bars.

4. Click Set.
5. Copy the text into place (use the structure tree if you are working in a structured document).
6. Go to Format > Document > Change Bars (alt + o + d + c)
7. Check the box next to Automatic Change Bars to turn change bars back on.
8. Click Set.
9. Save your file.
